Pulling over at midnight for a mystery car on the side of a road an hour from the nearest town, which isn't awake anyway. I couldn't just drive past them.
They weren't serial killers.
But that couldn't change the fact that the jump didn't work.
I gave them snacks and freshwater and went on my way...with skin, bones, and teeth all in place.
